Men who don't ogle women who aren't supposed to mind if their wives cheat on them (in fact that's expected and the men are never to cheat on their spouses) who submit to women in almost all issues including marriage and I've just read where a bizaare sexual position would involve the man being on top. When that happens, I get kicked out of the fantasy and my 'suspension of disbelief' takes a beating. Originally, I liked the role-reversal of men/women, but after a point, I started picking at the logic. For me, though, what's worse is I keep getting kicked out of enjoying the book by unbelievability of the role-reversal aspect. It is verbose, which isn't a sin to me, but the plot just hasn't moved at all. I'm about 1/2 through it, and the same flaws that marred Dragon Prince seem to be occuring here. Well, ten years later, I thought I'd give her another chance with Ruins of Ambrai. I read the next two books, but I often found myself skimming through them. It seemed like the book could have been easily truncated without any loss of worth. I read Dragon Prince when it first came out, and I really enjoyed the first part of it, but then it just started dragging and 300 pages later, the great political scheme that had been decided upon near the beginning of the book finally took place.
